Spike emerged from the portal, his eyes blinking as he adjusted to the new surroundings. He looked around and saw that he was on the edge of a rocky outcropping overlooking a sprawling island. The small dragon had used the portal to escape from the world of Equestria, but it happened seemingly by accident. He could barely contain his sense of disdain for the whole affair.

Oh, just where was he was now, he wondered?

As he was taking it all in, a handsome gray lizard with red frills on his head and neck approached him. "Hey there, little dragon," the lizard said, grinning and marveling at Spike's petiteness. "You look lost."

Spike narrowed his eyes, suspicious of the newcomer. "Who the fuck are you?" he retorted with cold, hostile incredulity.

The lizard laughed, his frills puffing up slightly. "The name's Friz," he said. "And I just might be the one who'll help you win this Fight Palace Tournament."

Spike raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite himself. "Uhhh... tournament?"

Friz gestured toward the island below. "Only the biggest fighting tournament in the world," he said. "And I think you'll make a great addition to our teams. Probably. Idunno, Patrick last Wednesday was a bit of a dozer. Guy needed a bit more practice. I think you'd do great though!"

Spike snorted. "I'm not interested in fighting. I just want to find a way back home."

Friz shrugged. "Suit yourself. But if you change your mind, you know where to find me. I run Dragurr's Tavern, and I'm always looking for new talent."

Spike was still wary, but he couldn't help feeling a thrill of excitement at the thought of competing in the tournament and possibly nabbing some earnings. "What's in this thing? Prize cash? How much might we be talking, here?" he asked to Friz who appeared to be walking out.

He turned back around and approached Spike. Leaning into him, he brushed his frills up to Spike's gills. "The prize pool's always ten grand AT LEAST," Friz said. "And if you prove yourself as the greatest fighter in the world this year? Well, shit! It's six times that much! But, I've got a feeling you'll love it here."

Spike wasn't entirely convinced, but he couldn't deny the allure, nor the coursing of Froggou in his veins through bestowment of this Earth. But, Friz, in earnest, was a real twinky looker that he'd throw his sexual proclivity to, stat. "So, what do I do? I'm Spike, by the way."

Friz grinned, his eyes glistening with excitement, fangs flashing. "Just follow me," he said. "And I'll show you everything you need to know."

As they walked through the fight venues, Spike, slowing in his pace, felt an unbearable weight of words he could no longer keep from a friend. A tear swirled through the cosmos into a dull and discernable plap at the floor. Friz frowned, and gently put his arm around Spike. "Hey there, big guy. You could use a drink," Friz said with gentle caress, winking at him softly.

Spike sighed, rolling his eyes and making his upset look worse. "Look... you don't... you just don't know what I did to get here... what I had to do!" he replied, aggravated, surprised by Friz's demeanor and his own, while wiping his eye. He calmed down in bewilderment, now asking in earnest, "And me, drinking? Are you crazy?? Am I even old enough for that?"

Friz laughed. "It's just no reason not to have a little bit of fun," he said, still smiling at Spike. "When you're at the Palace, you're old enough in all our books. And, what about the human condition, anyway? Should you never be forgiven? Screw where you came from, my dude."

Spike couldn't help but notice his feelings rise fervescently to Friz's charm, though he didn't wish to admit it. As he made his way through the arena, Friz continued to flirt with him, offering him drinks and continuing to convince him of sponsorship benefits.

Despite his initial reluctance, Spike found himself drawn into the excitement of the Fight Palace. He was impressed by the other fighters and their abilities, and he started seeing the tournament as a challenge he could not pass up.

As the night wore on, Spike found himself at Dragurr's Tavern, where Friz was working. The two of them shared drinks and exchanged stories, and Spike realized fully that Friz was not only a flirtatious lizard, but also kind and compassionate. Absolutely nothing like the territorial asshats he knew from his homeland who'd cover narcissism under a veil of supposed friendship.

Spike's state of mind shifted from once what was initial disdain, to jazzed anticipation of the potential prize money. While he once longed to return to Equestria, he was now content to stay and fight. Maybe even their leader, ToonPimp would know how it all runs. His homeworld, the situation he'd made, left, it was simply too much. This was now his new dwelling.

Leaving the tavern and making his way back to the arena, Spike couldn't help but feel an utter gratitude to Friz, although stirred by inner confusion. Something seemed off... what was everyone's story on this planet? Truly? What's under the surface that they won't let on?

A clandestine debacle of the true origins of other fighters, repressed media truths disdaining the anthros of this island, while knowing not a lick of how any of them were born.

As Spike came to further realizations in his time on this island, the more he realized that he never knew such things about himself either, in Equestra nor here. Can things really change?

If this planet's society was as harsh as all he already knew, Friz at least now was a friend and ally in this unfamiliar climate. He recalled an important piece of advice he'd heard earlier to ease his mind.

"Thanks, Friz. But, maybe I don't know if this is where I belong. I think I need to find a way back home," Spike sighed.

Friz nodded empathetically. "I understand, little man. But, this pit... this reality has a way of holding onto people. Once you start fighting, it's hard to stop. Just don't lose your smile, and you'll be alright. Humanity is for me, having your prey and sparing them."

Combo notes
===========

KFM's strengths lie in his ability to chain moves into each
other. Here are his basic combo rules:

1. You can combo from weaker basic attacks into stronger ones
eg. light kick -> strong kick

2. You can combo into special attacks from most basic attacks
eg. stand strong punch -> Kung Fu Palm

3. You can combo into hyper attacks from all basic and special
    attacks
eg. Kung Fu Palm -> Triple Kung Fu Palm

4. You can combo from hyper attacks into other hyper attacks,
as long as you do not do the same hyper twice in a row
eg. Triple Kung Fu Palm -> Smash Kung Fu Upper

These rules make it possible for you to do some damaging combos.
